In this episode, Sara and I explore Mandalay, the 2nd largest city in Myanmar. We go to Mandalay Palace, learning a bit about the former kings Mindon and Thibaw, and the dark twisted soap opera that was their lives. We also go to the site of the world’s largest book, which may be a scam. You decide. And we check out the most holy site in all of Myanmar, Mahamuni pagoda, where we meet up with a monk who gives us a tour while speaking gibberish.
