Part 4: Yangon

Yangon, Myanmar: Cultures Through Food

Watch Part 5

This is part 4 of my “The People, The Culture, The Food – Myanmar” series.
You can watch episode 1 here: Inle Lake, Myanmar.
Or, watch episode 2 here: Mandalay, Myanmar.
Or, watch episode 3 here: the Outskirts of Mandalay.

Part 4 brings us to the largest city in Myanmar, Yangon.

Yangon is multi-cultural. It’s a little modern, but also very traditional. There are large parks. Important religious sites. And food! Lots of delicious food! We spend a day getting to know the cultures that make up Myanmar by eating their food. For breakfast, Shan noodle soup. Lunch: Indian food. For dinner we head to Chinatown’s 9th street for BBQ meat on sticks. In between meals, we visit Shwedagon pagoda – the holiest place in all of Myanmar.

If you are planning a trip to Myanmar, have a look at our 2 week guide to Myanmar. It’s filled with tons of great info.
