Welcome to the Worst Month of our Lives
Robbed 4 days before we were set to move – passport stolen!
Right now, as I type this, I am sitting in a hotel in Cambodia.
We recently moved from Ecuador to Cambodia – a move that was about 6 months in the making. Back in January, Sara was offered a teaching job at what seems to be an incredible school. We were ready to leave Ecuador and go back to Asia, so the move was planned for early July.
Even though we had moved to a new country 5 times already, it’s always difficult packing up everything you own and flying across the world.

It’s hard for me to tell you how you will react when you’ve been robbed at gunpoint. Anyone who hasn’t experienced it but claims to know what their reaction would be to a gun being pointed in their face… They just don’t know. My reaction was a terrible one. I resisted handing over our belongings. The story of the robbery was one of the more difficult videos I ever made.

After that, we basically hid out in an Airbnb for a month while we got a replacement passport so we could go through with the move. When we finally got everything together it was time to make one of the longest and most difficult trips of our lives.

Not easy, but we made it! But before we could enjoy the incredible country of Cambodia, we had to quarantine in a hotel appointed by the government for a total of 2 weeks. What’s that like? Well, it could be worse.

So that’s pretty much it. I don’t really believe in luck, but it seems bad luck believes in me.
It feels great to be back in Southeast Asia. I can’t wait to get out on a motorbike and cruise the streets of Phnom Penh. Stay tuned to the site and the Youtube channel for more videos about living in Cambodia, including apartment hunting and other things that we need to do when they let us go.
